Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis (4 stars)

I've never been one to read a book and then write down my thoughts on the story or even review it (which is bad since reviews are huge to most authors as they promote book sales whether positive or negative).  However, now that my own secret writing talents have been discovered I've been encouraged to start doing so (by the hubby who would rather I share my opinions on a book with my own readers than him as romance novels are not his thing).  You will notice that I only post about books that I know I will finish and that I at least somewhat like.  I was raised that if I don't have anything nice to say about something... just don't say anything.

So with that in mind I'm currently reading Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis as she is a recommended read of one of my favorite authors (Lori Foster).  I'm liking the story, it's a little predictable but sweet at the same time.  I will definately finish it and plan to read at least two more in this series (Lucky Harbor series) though I'm unsure yet if I will add her as an author to the must read list.

Likes - A couple of great laugh out loud moments for sure!  The comaderie between the three sisters in this book is great (very relatable if you have siblings).  I'm also liking the external conflict (salvaging the Inn left to them by their late mother).  The insinuated love interests of the sisters will rope you into their story lines as well as the main characters.  I personally like when there are a lot of side characters in a series, it makes me feel like the story is more genuine and realistic.  At least more so than when there is only the two lovebirds with very few other outside characters/friends/family to influence the happy couple.  Sure, we'd all like to hibernate with our love interest for extended periods of time.  However, life happens and the real world doesn't care that you can't get enough of each other.  So if you're going to be interrupted let it at least be by another character that you like just as much.  :)

Dislikes - I like hot steamy love scenes as much as the next girl but multiple chapters worth is a little much.  I kept waiting for a little more action, drama or conflict (outside of the bedroom).

Love Interests

Whenever your teenager is on the phone with a member of the opposite sex, ask them things like "Is that the girl you're so in love with?"  Result = A look that has the potential to turn the skies dark and create a storm of epic proportions followed by, "Please... just go away..."

Parental Flirting

Hardcore sexy flirting with the hubby within the boy's earshot... Result = the boy making guttural gagging noises for several seconds and following that up with, "I already avoid the kitchen after the groping incident. Can you guys please keep that stuff to yourselves? Please?"

BTW... for those curious... the boy walked in on me groping the hubby's behind while he was making dinner one night. He claims that, though we were fully clothed, it has scarred him for life and he will never recover from it. BAHAHA!

Wake up

After making several reasonable attempts to get him/her out of bed and failing...  go into his/her room and start singing Patsy Cline songs as loudly as you can. Result = "For the love of all, Mom. Please stop. I'm up okay?"
